Paul Owen; U.S. Navy

Paul Owen US Navy

Veteran Owen first served our country when he joined the National Guard at age 17. After High School and college Paul joined the NAVY and served from 1959-1964. Owen had basic training at Great lakes and then shipped out to the South Pacific. His first ship was an oiler because he wanted to serve with his brother but was soon transferred to a LST. While there he remembers being given the job of installing the commanders radio...with dire power results. He credits service with giving him his discipline in life which carried over in to his personal life and current service as a County Commissioner. Paul tells us how important the education opportunities can be and that veterans should take full advantage of the benefit. If it wasn't for our veterans service we would not have the freedoms we have today. Thank you for your service Paul.
